Since 2003, the year of its foundation, the Association supports and promotes a global study project on Fatal Familial Insomnia (FFI) to serve as a model for future TSE studies.

It consequently:

Supports the experimental research to investigate the pathological mechanisms linked to prion diseases on transgenic mice which will be useful in identifying active protective substances.

Aims at consolidating and amplifying the clinical and molecular study of Fatal Familial Insomnia with the establishment of new diagnostic and prognostic parameters.

Is initiating a research project to identify preventive treatment for people who carry the mutation.
